Since the Igbo lay great importance on these cultural heritage, this research paper intends to find out what these cultural values are, how have they helped the Igbo to live as an entity, what life style have they enjoyed before the coming of the white man who, with the introduction of his own culture, tore the Igbo people apart. Chinua Achebe investigation of the past reveals that Africans and Europeans contributed equally to the tragic encounter between Europe and Africa that ultimately weakened the African society; so both parties must be held responsible for scorching Africa.
