One August day in 1883, a natural event far away across the equator, and in the colony of the Dutch East Indies (Now Indonesia), created history. A huge Volcano, partially hidden by the sea erupted, its name Krakatoa..

The initial eruption caused the biggest bang in known history, and was heard thousands of kilometers away in Australia, and in parts of South East Asia. The Tsunami, that followed swept ashore, destroying the lives of tens of thousands of people. The ash that flowed into the sky, blocked the sunlight, and cast many areas of the World into winter, and subsequently “the year of no summer,” in Europe.

This destructive force of Krakatoa, still remains talked about today, and in 1888, the Royal Society of Britain, commissioned one of the most detailed in-depth reports of the eruption, through a team of experts.
